⚠ Legal warning. MelBet does not hold a Ukrainian KRAIL (Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries) or PlayCity license. A Ukrainian interface and a hryvnia account do not make MelBet legal: the operator does not report bets and payouts to the State Online Monitoring System, and PlayCity does not oversee how bet slips are settled. This page is published as an analysis of the product and its risks.

Home page of the MelBet bookmaker website

MelBet has been operating since 2012 and combines pre-match, live, esports, virtual sports, TV games, poker and a casino. The global domain melbet.com is run by Pelican Entertainment B.V., registered in Curaçao. Sports betting is the brand’s core product.

The JoyFactory team analysed the structure of the betting line, market depth, margins on main and secondary markets, the sports bonus, the cashier, KYC, the apps and complaints. The brand’s casino section was assessed separately in our MelBet Casino review.

Product strengths

  • Over 1,500 markets on the main event
  • Margin as low as 3–4% on top markets
  • Cash-out and early bet settlement
  • Hryvnia account and Ukrainian interface

Critical risks

  • No Ukrainian license
  • Margin from 8.5% on small markets
  • Payments go through a Cypriot agent
  • No Ukrainian in chat and support
  • No single confirmed payout limit

In terms of line depth, the MelBet bookmaker is one of the strongest operators in this segment. The financial side looks weaker: complaints regularly mention deposits that were never credited, transactions through local agents and payouts frozen until KYC is complete.

What we checked

The review was carried out by Dmytro Kolesnikov, JoyFactory’s bookmaker author. The license details were verified by Valeriia Prykhodko, our in-house lawyer.

We did not create an account, activate a bonus or make any payments. The line was assessed using publicly available control samples, and the margin was calculated from published odds.

Market depth: control sample

Main sporting event over 1,500 markets
English League Two match about 1,000
Brazilian Série C match about 500
Sample average 1,000 markets per event

The sample compares events of different popularity. Even the lower bound of 500 markets for a Brazilian Série C match is a figure most competitors in this section cannot match.

Margin in control samples

Match result, Champions League qualifier 3.59%
Secondary market in the same match 8.24%
Difference 4.65 pp, or 2.3 times
Pre-match, mid-range 5%
Live, average benchmark 6%

This is the key figure of the review. Within a single match, the margin grows 2.3 times as soon as a player moves from the match result to a “win to nil” or an odd/even total. Live adds another 20% on top of the pre-match level.

Betting line and sports

The MelBet bookmaker offers up to 50 sports; the exact list changes with the season and the number of tournaments available.

The football line covers not only the Champions League and the top leagues but also lower divisions, youth tournaments and regional leagues, and this is exactly where MelBet beats its competitors.

Esports have a separate section: CS2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Valorant, with markets such as match winner, map handicap, total maps, map winner, number of rounds and first blood. Bet types include singles, accumulators, systems and chains.

Market depth at the MelBet bookmaker

The main event offers over 1,500 outcomes: match result, double chance, handicaps and totals, both teams to score, correct score, corners and cards, shots and offsides, player stats, half results, goal intervals, combined and exotic markets. Some of them appear only after the line-ups are confirmed.

A deep market list does not mean good value. The narrower and less liquid the market, the higher the margin, and it is on these markets that MelBet earns more than its competitors.

Odds and margin

On the main pre-match markets, the margin stays within 4–6% and drops to 3–4% for finals. That is competitive even against legal Ukrainian bookmakers, whose margin on top football ranges from 2.6% to 6.7%.

Secondary outcomes are a different story: the margin starts at 8.5% on exotic stats, illiquid individual outcomes, combined bets and regional tournaments.

The practical takeaway: comparing the MelBet bookmaker with other operators only by the odds on the match winner is misleading. Most of the overpayment is hidden in stats and combined markets, exactly where the brand offers the widest choice.

Live betting and Cash-out

Live covers thousands of events. The Live Info feature shows the score and time, ball possession, attacks, shots, corners, cards and a graphic model of the event; some matches have a video stream, which may require a positive balance.

Early bet settlement is available: full or partial Cash-out is not offered for every bet and may disappear during a dangerous attack or a sharp change in the odds. MelBet’s average live margin of about 6% is competitive for the segment, but it is higher on minor matches.

Bonuses and loyalty

MelBet bookmaker sports bonus on the first deposit

Size 100% on the first deposit
Maximum depends on the country, roughly €100
Wagering x5 the bonus amount
Turnover for a €100 bonus €500
Qualifying bet type accumulator of 3+ events
Minimum odds per event 1.40
Minimum accumulator odds 2.744
Time limit 30 days
MelBet bookmaker bonus offers

The requirement to wager with accumulators matters more than the wagering multiplier itself: five rounds of €100 mean at least five accepted bet slips of three events each, and refunded or cancelled bets do not count.

The restrictions are standard: one offer per user, address, device and payment details, a completed profile and a phone number confirmed by SMS. Withdrawing before the turnover is complete cancels the bonus.

The loyalty program has eight levels: Copper gives 5% cashback, followed by Bronze 6%, Silver 7%, Gold 8%, Ruby 9%, Sapphire 10%, Diamond 11%, and VIP with an individual model. An important detail: most of the official table is tied to casino activity, so sports bettors need to check separately how points are awarded.

Cashier and verification

Payout times after KYC

E-wallets instantly or within 15 minutes
Cryptocurrencies 15–30 minutes
Local payments 15–60 minutes
Bank cards 1–3 business days, sometimes up to 7
Bank transfer 3–7 business days
Payout limit contradictory: from “unlimited” to $60,000
Tax agent No, the player is responsible for declaring winnings

The gap between methods is extreme: seven business days for a bank transfer versus fifteen minutes for an e-wallet, roughly 670 times longer. The choice of withdrawal method matters more than any other payment feature of MelBet.

Before the first cashout, MelBet asks for a passport, a selfie with the document, proof of address, a photo of the card, a bank statement and the source of income. The stated verification response time is up to 48 hours; in complaints, the procedure took longer.

A separate condition: the deposit must be turned over before withdrawal, qualifying bets must have odds of 1.10 or higher, and bets on opposite outcomes may not count. Withdrawals must be made with the same method used to deposit; if several methods were used, the payout is split proportionally.

Apps and support

An Android APK, an iOS version, a Windows program and a responsive website with the full set of features are available.

The iOS version may be unavailable in some App Store regions, and the official instructions suggest changing the country of your Apple ID. Reviews mention freezes and cluttered navigation; the mobile website is often more stable.

Support is available via chat, e-mail and separate channels for payment issues. The average first response time across eight checks was two minutes. However, the official response time of the payments or verification department is up to 48 hours, which is 1,440 times longer than connecting to the chat.

The website is translated into about 50 languages and the chat works in 30, but Ukrainian is not among them. For disputes, there is the address [email protected].

Common complaints

The current database contains 91 complaints: 19 resolved (20.9%), 60 rejected (65.9%), 4 unresolved and 8 in progress. In total, 2,700 penalty points, about 30 per complaint.

The dominant scenarios:

  • the bank debited the deposit, but it was not credited to the balance;
  • the local payment agent does not confirm the transaction;
  • the security team requests documents again;
  • the payout is blocked until KYC is complete or is returned to the account;
  • the finance department gives no completion date.

In the most telling case, two bank deposits worth about $250 in total were not credited despite receipts and statements, and one payment remained unresolved for more than two months.

MelBet bookmaker rating

  • Safety and legal status (25%) 4.8/10
  • Payouts (20%) 5/10
  • Line and market depth (20%) 8.4/10
  • Support (15%) 5.8/10
  • Bonus terms (10%) 6.4/10
  • Mobile app (10%) 6.8/10
Overall 6.1

The deepest line in the section, with cheap top markets and expensive small markets.

MelBet’s rating is held up by the depth of the line, the margin on top markets, live betting and Cash-out. It is pulled down by the lack of a PlayCity license, Ukrainian-language support, a transparent payout limit and clear responsibility for transactions processed through agents.

The approach is described in the JoyFactory methodology. The safety score is the same as in our review of the brand’s casino, since the operator, license and payment agents are shared.
